The Civic Movement Does not delete the Memory! it was born of a share of clarification promoted in the 5 of October of 2005 for a group of citizens infuriated with the demolition of the old building-headquarters of the policy politics Portuguese fascist, the PIDE, and its substitution for a luxury condominium, without any respect for the example of heroísmo and dignity of the prisoners politicians who had suffered brutais interrogations there.

Of this spontaneous share of protest the Civic Movement appeared, in December of 2005, the continuation of a founding assembleia, that if carried through in the Museum of the Republic and Resistance, in Lisbon. One of the first initiatives of the Movement was to organize a national petition, to present to the Assembleia of the Republic, where if it complains, of the part of the representative institution of the democratic State, the definition of a law picture that dignifies the memory of that for the defense of the democratic freedoms and for social justice they had given years of life, and some the proper life, victims of the brutality fascist of the PIDE, the policy politics of Salazar.

This petition collected four a thousand signatures more than and goes to be delivers in this month of July to the Assembleia of the Republic, for a delegation of the Movement. This delegation also will be had an interview with the parliamentary groups, in the direction of motivating them so that in the next legislative session to 2006/07 they approve the law picture that assures the creation of national museológicos spaces, where the memory of the resistance to the dictatorship, and of the fight for the democratic freedom, either a legacy to know politician and civic pedagogia, in favor of the future generations.

The Movement carried through in a 1 of April visit to the Fort of Peniche, another one of the penitentiaries where the dictatorship of the New State locked up its opponents politicians in conditions of absolute indignity and disdain for the most elementary human rights.
In this visit confirmed it proposal so that memory scripts are created, that designate the places where the ditatorial regimen of Salazar and Marcello Caetano oppressed, restrained and tortured citizens – that they only demanded the recognition of the rights social politicians and, for itself and all the Portuguese.

The pair of the Fort of Peniche, the penitentiary of the Aljube is of the main paradigms, a “icon” of infuriates repression exerted on the Portuguese population for the PVDE/PIDE/DGS, diverse acronyms to assign the same entity of police terrorism.
